About Our Executive Chef
Co-owner and founder of five senses restaurant, Kimani Ikaria bring on board the fine art of French cooking using locally sourced ingredients. Chef Kim honed his skills in France, renowned for its gastronomy, and particularly the concept of fine dining, and pairing food and wine. He brings his expertise in using state of the art equipment, a key component in achieving the highest quality of flavors desirable for each meal he prepares.
Chef Kim has worked in restaurants in Europe including an internship at Le Meurice and Plaza Athenee in Paris. He was trained and mentored by Alain Ducasse, a 21 Michelin star Chef who owns 25 restaurants across the globe, at the Alain Ducasse Education. Kim then worked at IDAM, in Doha, a restaurant owned by Alain Ducasse.
He has come back to Nairobi to introduce what he calls the ‘modern art of fine dining through food and wine pairing.’ His intention is to appeal to the sense of smell, touch, taste, sound, and sight by creating a unique culinary experience not only through his cooking but in every aspect of the customer experience at the 5 Senses Restaurant.– Chef Kim Executive Chef
