This dish draws on Chef Kim’s sense of loss, growing up in Nairobi when while growing up he listened to his father’s boyhood stories when he and his peers with their dogs hunted hares, deer and guinea fowl out in the forests in and around Ngata Farm, Nakuru County. These adventures, filled with laughter and survival, were an essential part of his father’s childhood.
Down the Rabbit Hole recreates this rustic experience with a modern twist. For those ever to be regaled with such adventures this dish bears a hint of the wild and while honouring resilience, resourcefulness, camaraderie and the joy of shared meals creates a deep longing for a connection with our roots.
