Chemsha: A Celebration of Local Heritage

Chemsha is inspired by Chef Kim’s teenage years, when his uncle introduced him to a local joint in Nairobi’s CBD. It was here that he experienced Tumbukiza, a traditional dish of slow-simmered meat on the bone, served in a hearty, herb-infused broth.

At 5 Senses, Chemsha pays homage to this memory. This elevated version features lamb confit cooked in a vegetable mirepoix, paired with a rich lamb demi-glace and tender potatoes—celebrating the soul of Kenyan cuisine while embracing refined techniques.
